Judy Limpert was a part-time teller, she knew she needed to supplement the
household income because “I wanted to buy things for my four children.”
She’s now vice-president/branch manager for the Bayside branch of North Fork
Bank. She thinks she knows why she so readily progressed from part-time
teller to VP: “I was good in math and I love people, so the two went
together.”
Did she find climbing the proverbial corporate ladder more difficult
because she’s a woman? “The glass ceiling does exist,” she says, “But I
don’t focus on limits. I just do my best.”
She was nervous about taking on more responsibility because of her other
responsibilities at home, but she did it. “Banking is probably one of the
easiest fields for women fields for women to excel,” she said.
Limpert is glad to be assigned to the Bayside Branch. “I consider it to
be the best place in Queens to be,” she said. If her enthusiasm at work
weren’t enough to prove it, Limpert is president of the Bayside Business
Association. She also serves on the Board of the Bayside Historical Society,
the Bayside Kiwanis Club and the Bayside Ambulance Corps.
She even turned her hobby of golf into a way to help the community—she
arranges benefit golf outings.
When Judy’s not working or volunteering, she enjoys the company of her
four children and seven grandchildren, and retreats to her upstate home for
relaxation.
